The Short Answer
Get a personal trainer. Don’t click away! I can sense the eyeroll of disappointment. The solution is never easy, is it? Time and finances get between us and our ideal self. Yet by rerouting your spending, a fitness trainer could be well within your budget. Take the bull by the horns and initiate a plan to guarantee your success. Start by determining your desired weight. Then, get a scale and a weight tracker. The weight tracker can be a dedicated pad and pen or a phone app, whichever one you can commit to. Your goals won’t happen if you don’t track them. Remove temptations by donating them. Don’t fool yourself into believing that you won’t touch them, that you will be more responsible with consumption, or that you will start the diet after the current unhealthy supply is consumed. Where will the discipline for resisting temptation come from if you have spent the last x many days, weeks, months, or years indulging in the temptation?
Temperance/Self-Restraint
Another powerful but seemingly impossible method. Think about it: Why spend your precious funds on something that will make you hate yourself later? Instead, treat sweets like cocktails and enjoy them only socially and on special occasions. This keeps them out of the home and thus, out of reach. For those inevitable snack cravings, keep guilt-free snacks with low sugar or carb content like popcorn.
Support Group
A support group will keep you accountable. Many have tried and failed, believing that their inept self-discipline would show up and carry them to their goals. Alas, those believers still await their new and improved selves to arrive as they digress further away from their weight-loss dreams.
